Food is great I recommend the tacos!!! I come from all the way from Hollister to eat these tacos!!! The employees are super polite and the cashiers are fast! Love this store!!
I've been seeing that this joint was 'the best burrito in California' for years and finally found it. Of course this is highly subjective and the site and a description of the super burrito is not so impressive. It's a Mexican market, the people are extra nice and may not speak English but they are OK with my pigeon Spanish or can find someone to assist, no problem. The super burrito is now $10 and of course, quite huge. It has lots of optional contents which you can control completely. The carnitas is our favorite. It has become our favorite but that is probably due to the novelty. I really like immersion into a different culture as well. They also have a Mex meat market which is great if you need a specialty cut. Real butchers right there.
Super burritos are $7. They are tightly wrapped in a foil blanket to provide excellent ingredient amalgamation. These are saucy logs and come standard with lettuce, crema, salsa fresca or onions and cilantro depending on what you order. I'm not a fan of lettuce in burritos, but this was romaine and crunchy and delicious. Avocado is included but I couldn't taste it. I'm not a fan of rice in burritos, but this is such a light touch that it actually added to the deliciousness of the burrito. I liked the carnitas, but the costillas was so spicy and succulent as to be a taste sensation. Based on what we had tonight, El Charrito should be afraid!
I come here for the Taqueria in the back. It is great. It is down home cooking and they offer many different plates. It ain't fancy and it is not meant to be. Just legit Mexican food at a good price. Super burrito is $6! Can't go wrong. So if your in south county and need a quick bite I recommend to take the 5 min drive off the freeway!
I love the burritos and fried chicken in the back. The ladies who work here are so nice. This is a great fly-by for dinner. Quick, inexpenisve, in-door seating. Plus this is the chef from Manresa's go to burrito joint.
Recently Sunset Magazine had an article on the best burritos in California. Pajaro Food Center won Best Burrito in Northern California. I'll admit I was rather surprised to read this as I drive by PFC fairly frequently and it doesn't exactly strike you as the home of Best Burrito. I'm happy to report it lives up to the hype! Usually a burrito this large is full of "filler" lettuce and lots of refried beans. These burritos are fill of nothing but goodness. Bursting with fresh steak (I ordered the carne asada) onion, cilantro, other fresh produce, and perfectly cooked rice, I can confidently say this was the freshest burrito I've ever had. I will definitely be back!
